On June 18th and 19th, the MoSaiC consortium convened for its pivotal plenary meeting in Tallinn, Estonia. This assembly, occurring at the mid-point of the project’s implementation phase, was characterized by a highly collaborative and productive atmosphere, underscoring the progress and innovative strides made in unmanned robotic solutions. Fondazione SAFE, as the project coordinator, is leading this joint effort alongside esteemed partners AIT, ENEA, CAFA Tech, Consorzio CREO, Bruhn NewTech, and RE-liON.
MoSaiC’s mission is to enhance the preparedness and response capabilities against chemical and biological threats through cutting-edge technology. The project focuses on the development of advanced sensors installed on unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). These devices operate semi-autonomously to provide innovative sensing capabilities and dynamic, real-time mapping.
A significant highlight of the meeting was the initial showcase of these unmanned robotic solutions, which are set to be further refined and integrated into the MoSaiC framework.
Furthermore, the project aims to create a near-real-time 3D mapping and processing system. This system will be visualized through virtual reality (VR) and extended reality (XR) systems to assist in decision-making processes. It also aims to foster robust data exchange through a Command and Control (C2) and data visualization system that enables multi-user interaction.
This consortium meeting not only marked a significant milestone in the MoSaiC project timeline but also set a promising trajectory for future developments and collaborations.
The partners left Tallinn with a reinforced commitment to advancing their shared goals and enhancing global safety measures against chemical and biological threats.
